Mindy Diaz

My initial exposure to jewelry making began at age 12, when I took a summer art class for high school students.  That multi-media, hands-on experience at such a young age was a wonderful opportunity that sparked my interest in working with metals.

Though I’ve been working the past 25 years as a jeweler and goldsmith, it was only within the past few years, at the urging of an artistic friend, that I began to view my work as “art.”  I then began spending more time creating original pieces.

Rather than sketch a design first, I prefer to begin working with a piece of silver or gold and let the piece take shape in the moment.  My recent studies with color therapy and energy work have given me an understanding of my desire to incorporate colored gemstones into my designs.  It is my feeling that art is created when that which is in your heart is expressed through your hands.  Therefore, I feel that with sincere intention, each piece I make will “find” whomever it was made for, and hopefully bring joy, even healing, to that person.
