Participating Cities

Davenport

The Rotating Sculpture Program started in 2002
as an eight-piece exhibit in downtown Davenport.
The program soon expanded as Davenport began
to embraced public art as a way to focus residents
and visitors on plans for the establishment of a
cultural corridor stretching along the Mississippi
River
on 2nd . Home to two museums, art
galleries, music venues, restaurants, theatres,
businesses, a baseball stadium and seasonal
special events, the area has developed into a
thriving destination. Davenport continues to
support the exhibition of public art adding five new
sculptures to their streetscape in 2007 and 2008.

Rock Island

The City of Rock Island welcomed three
sculptures to The Arts and Entertainment District
of Rock Island for the first year of their Rotating
Sculpture Program. Each piece is located in the
vibrant historic downtown just one block off the
river. The sculptures are a complement to
the growing number of murals that welcome
people to businesses, new shops, galleries, loft
apartments and river view condos. They are also
a vital component of the city’s strategic plan
objective to include the creation, performance,
sale, and public display of art.

Moline

Moline Centre Partners also welcomed rotating
public art for the first time in 2007. The downtown
incorporated five sculptures with the area’s
rich historical architecture, new river front green
space and business development, a state-of-the-
art civic center, upscale hospitality and the
popular John Deere Pavilion, Collectors Center
and store. The new public art pieces were
integrated as part of Moline’s streetscape
redevelopment plan. The pieces complimented
the city's new landscaping, informational signage,
hardscapes and business front enhancements
in order to broaden visitors’ experience with all
the city has to offer.
