This is a full-time, salaried position with benefits.
Job Duties:
1. Directs the Community Arts program: Responsible for the planning, promotion, development, implementation, evaluation and success of community arts projects including Art @ the Airport. Facilitates city/corporate commissions, consultations and community development projects, along with temporary installations. Manages budgets of $200-$200,000 that utilize both public and private partnerships and funds. Recruits, hires/contracts and trains artists, interns and workers to assist in their completion.
2. Directs Committees. Responsible for building, maintaining, and developing strong advisory committees for various public art projects. Provides leadership to the committee in developing and fulfilling program goals. Responsible for committee communications, chair and assistant chair relations, developing and distributing agendas, minutes and materials.
3. Serves as liaison for local government, chamber, and development groups to increase opportunities for the organization while building a high level of understanding of public art.
4. Creates budgets and monitors finances while meeting income and expense projections. Assists in grant writing and procurement of sponsorships as needed. Responsible for earned income and fees for services. Codes checks for deposit into appropriate budget account number. Keeps appropriate backup materials for projects.
5. Assists Fundraising through public events and creation of projects that increase revenue through fees for services.
6. Assists with the Metro Arts Program. Helps the agency carry out the summer youth arts employment program, specifically by securing public sites for the program as well as for permanent and semi-permanent installations.
7. Serves as Backup to the Gallery Manager: Attends the gallery in the absence of the gallery manager. Assists when needed with Arts Center activities.
8. Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
Skills and abilities:
· Minimum of five years experience in public or visual arts
· Broad knowledge of art field
· Highly organized and motivated
· Project management experience – running projects simultaneously with multiple timelines
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
· Successful experience in communicating with diverse groups
· Community leadership with a strong desire for community involvement
· Own transportation
· Ability to lift and transport equipment
· Flexibility in work schedule
Desired:
· Bachelor of Arts degree with an emphasis in the arts
· Knowledge of the local arts community and city governments helpful
· Nonprofit management and funding
· Strong communication skills including public speaking
· Ability to write grants, new releases, and reports
· Promotional skills
· Computer skills in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Access
