Time: 6:30 PM
Location: CityView Celebrations at Trimble Pointe
701 12th Street., Moline, IL 61265

Barron Ryan's love for music has always been divided. The son of two musicians, he grew up in a house filled with the sounds of artists ranging from Chopin to James Brown. So he’s not content drawing on just one influence — he combines them all into a musical adventure that’s vintage yet fresh, historical yet hip, classic yet cool. His latest album, titled “The Masters’ Apprentice”, covers 11 jazz pianos legends’ recorded improvisations, that he meticulously transcribed, and learned to perform.

Jarabe Mexicano invites audiences on a joyride through a versatile songbook of Mexican Folk as well as Rock & Roll, Tex-Mex, Latin Rock, and Reggae-Cumbia. Performing on stringed folk instruments accompanied by lively percussion, Jarabe’s dramatic, harmonized vocals in Spanish and English have gained them the admiration of audiences across the country.

The quintet’s eclectic border spirit stands out. Cultural anthropologist, distinguished author, and admirer Dr. Alejandro Lugo raves that Jarabe's musicians "are truly excellent and bring new blood to the musical traditions they perform... their version of La Malagueña is simply the best I've heard in decades, if not ever."
