CHECKLIST FOR A PERFORMANCE
Use the following checklist to help you prepare for a Visiting Artist Series performance at your school or site! Feel free to print this page for a hard copy of the checklist.
THE WEEK BEFORE THE PERFORMANCE
_____ Notify students, faculty, staff, and parents of the upcoming Visiting Artist Series performance.
_____ Post information about the performance on your school’s website
_____ Announce the performance in your school’s daily announcements
_____ To prepare students who will be attending the visiting artist performance, teachers can use Kavita’s website (www.kavitashahmusic.com/) and present it to their students. Kavita’s album, “Visions,” is also available for download from iTunes and Amazon. Teachers might work with students to generate questions about the upcoming show and to make predictions about the performance, such as the style of music she’ll present.
A DAY OR TWO BEFORE THE PERFORMANCE:
_____ Confirm that the performance space will be ready and available to Kavita upon arrival. ***Please allow 25 minutes each for the band’s equipment set-up and tear-down.***
_____ Have four straight-backed, armless chairs, four music stands, and four bottles of water ready.
_____ Set up a microphone and a sound system for Kavita’s use. If a sound system is not available, Quad City Arts may be able to provide one for your use.
_____ Arrange for helpers who can assist with unloading and setting up the band’s instruments and equipment.
THE DAY OF THE PERFORMANCE:
_____ Meet Kavita and her band upon their arrival to your building or have a volunteer/student representative meet her.
_____ Unload and set up the band’s instruments and equipment. ***Please allow 25 minutes each for the band’s equipment set-up and tear-down.***
