CHECKLIST FOR A PERFORMANCE

Use the following checklist to help you prepare for a Visiting Artist Series performance at your school or site! Feel free to print this page for a hard copy of the checklist.

THE WEEK BEFORE THE PERFORMANCE

_____ Notify students, faculty, staff, and parents of the upcoming Visiting Artist Series performance.

_____ Post information about the performance on your school’s website

_____ Announce the performance in your school’s daily announcements

_____ SCHOOLS: To prepare students who will be attending the visiting artist performance, teachers can review the attached press kit, specifically the “Connections for Families and Students,” and present it to their students. Teachers might work with students to generate questions about the upcoming show and to make predictions about the performance, such as the characters or themes she’ll present. A DAY OR TWO BEFORE THE PERFORMANCE:

_____ Confirm that the performance space will be ready and available to Paige upon arrival.

_____ Have a straight-backed, armless chair and a bottle of water ready.

_____ If a microphone and a sound system is available, please have it set up.

THE DAY OF THE PERFORMANCE:

_____ Meet Paige upon her arrival to your building or have a volunteer/student representative meet her.

FOLLOWING THE PERFORMANCE:

_____ Quad City Arts would appreciate a letter on your letterhead that describes your experience with the performance, such as how the artist engaged the students or audience, teacher and student reaction to the program, etc.

When is Paige’s FREE PUBLIC PERFORMANCE?

Solo artist Paige Hernandez leads students in an artful experience that explores hip hop and salsa! The audience gets to dance along in this dynamic interactive that’s brimming with arts integrated learning.

Journey with Paige as she introduces her multi-cultural heritage and come watch the full story come to life during a FREE public performance of the full production of “Havana Hop” at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at the Nighswander Theatre at Davenport Junior Theatre, 2822 Eastern Ave., Davenport.
