SEMI GIA

I’ve always been artistic. As a kid I remember my favorite gifts being a new coloring book and a fresh box of crayons. The evolution of society is my biggest inspiration of all. When I became obsessed with the Harlem Renaissance, it inspired me to create my first official collection, Harlem Nights. That was in 2011. Since then, I’ve played with several different mediums and styles. In 2020 I began working with digital art and NFTs. It was like a fresh start. Now I mix digital with acrylic, oil paint and fabric on canvas. My favorite artists are Salvador Dali, Lorna Sampson and Kara Walker. I’ve always loved silhouette and surrealist art because it is thought provoking and creates a little confusion. I’m always looking for new ways to evolve. One collection may look totally different from another because when I have an idea for a series, I create.

Give Her Flowers:
Women of all cultures have lived the life of an unsung hero. My “Give Her Flowers” collection is a tribute to women of color who have gone above and beyond to build a legacy for future generations to look up to. Most of these women never realized how phenomenal they were or were never properly honored, while others have been admired and revered. All have been heroes in their own fashion and deserve flowers.

This collection is mixed media, digital, painting and collage based.

Rock Island Gallery

The Quad City Arts Gallery is home to an exhibition space located on the first floor. The building, which was once a turn-of-the-century department store, features hardwood floors, and a  fourteen foot-high ceiling. The exhibition space is more than 1,500 sq. ft., a perfect space to showcase large paintings, sculptures and enjoy an occasional performance.
