Quad CitIES Performing Arts Mentorship

Quad Cities Performing Arts Mentorship (QCPAM) is designed for live performing artists based in our region. The initial cohort of April 2024 will focus on works appropriate to perform for K-12 school audiences. This comprehensive, three-part program is designed to empower local artists focused on family-friendly and arts education shows. The ultimate goal is to create a sustainable business model for artists within the live performing arts ecosystem, fostering long-term partnerships and opportunities for touring.

Composer Jackie Dempsey and artist Steve O’Hearn work with an ensemble of 10-20 artists to create post-industrial performances with original music, design, and staging, outside the rules of mass culture, fashion, or academia. Their current show, “Hand to Hand” is propelled by two giant puppet hands, each the size of a house and rigged like a sailing ship. The Squonkers, dwarfed by the hands, climb a multi-tiered stage. Music rises from a single finger flicking an organ key, as natural an expression of humanity as a wave or a fist. Squonk's original chamber rock drives a journey that is spectacular, plaintive, and comic. Audience members come together to grab the rigging, each individual powering a larger movement of giant fingers, a web of connections, a single dance.

Paddy is a keynote speaker in senior living retirement communities where he presents on the role of music in supporting seniors at home and in their residences.

John Devitt, Chairman of the Chicago Gaelic Park Irish Fest described I Am Ireland: “Paddy, with his beautiful voice, wit and charm pulls together more than 200 years of Irish history that leaves the audience informed and thoroughly entertained. I highly recommend this show which is a fitting tribute to the men and women who yearned and sung about the struggle for Irish Freedom and whose songs and stories are a vital part of our Irish Heritage."
